OUR STORY / KNOXVILLE & NEARBY

About The JunkFather

Every family has an origin story. Ours came with a beat-up truck.

I’m Alex, the owner of The JunkFather. What started as a way to help pay for college grew into a local junk removal business serving Knoxville and nearby East Tennessee communities.

I never expected to get this far. And I know we wouldn’t be here without the people who gave us a chance along the way.

The business lessons didn't stop when class ended.

I started The JunkFather while attending Pellissippi Community College. At the time, I was studying business and looking for some side income to cover school expenses. There wasn’t a grand plan for where this would go. I just wanted to work hard and make it work.

The beginning was rough. I was learning how to run a business while trying to keep one going, and there were plenty of days I wanted to quit. But something in my gut kept telling me to stick with it.

So I did. We kept taking jobs, learning, and getting better. Customers kept giving us reasons to keep going.

Looking back, I’ve learned more about business management running this company than I did studying it in college. The homework just got a lot heavier.

One of the early hauling days. This is the part that came before the nice truck.

We earned the nicer truck one job at a time.

We started with a beat-up old truck and worked that old girl until we could afford a nicer box truck. Then came another. Eventually, we worked our way to the branded truck you see today.

Every upgrade came with a lot of hard work, but none of it would have happened without our customers. Their business, generosity, and recommendations gave us the chance to keep building.

We’re proud of the truck we have now. We’re just as proud of where we started. These old photos aren’t polished, and that’s exactly why they belong here.

I started it. I didn't build it alone.

When we talk about the family, there’s some truth behind the theme. My mom has rolled up her sleeves and stuck with me through some of our toughest jobs without a second thought. Family, friends, and the people who worked alongside me all helped turn this into more than a side hustle.

And then there are our customers: the people who hired us when the truck wasn’t much to look at, told a friend about us, left a review, or welcomed us back for another job.

The JunkFather may be the name on the truck, but a lot of people helped put it there.

Pounds of junk hauled

A milestone we’d already celebrated in our earlier 400-review Facebook post.

Those numbers still mean a lot to someone who started out just trying to cover school expenses. But what matters most is that people trusted us enough to get here.

To everyone who’s hired us, referred us, helped us, or cheered us on: thank you. Truly. We wouldn’t be here without you, and I don’t ever want us to forget that.

Not everyone we met was on the schedule.

Somewhere between the loading and hauling, we found this little lizard under a junk pile. Our unexpected guest wasn’t much help with the heavy lifting, but made an excellent contribution to the photo.

The early days had plenty of hard work. They also had moments like this, and we’re glad someone stopped to take a picture.

This business is still my baby.

I put a lot of love and dedication into The JunkFather every day. It isn’t just a name I put on a truck. It’s something I’ve worked hard to build, with people who believed in it before there was much to show for it.

When you hire us, you’re trusting us with your time, your property, and a job you need handled. I take that personally. A memorable name might get us the first call. How we treat you is what matters after that.

That means talking to you like a person, explaining the price before work begins, and treating your home and belongings with respect. Upfront pricing. No hidden fees. If extra work is needed, we discuss it with you and get your approval before adding to the cost.

Whether this is your first time calling us or you’ve been with us since the old-truck days, I’m grateful you’re here.

Today, our crew helps with junk removal in Knoxville and nearby communities, including garage cleanouts, shed removal, and hot tub removal. You tell us what needs to go. We handle the heavy work.

Now that you know the family, let's talk about that junk.

Send us a few photos of what you’d like removed, along with your city or ZIP code and preferred date. We’ll talk through the job and give you a clear price.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you call. That’s what the conversation is for.
